Beliefs Of Amazing Grace Church The Bible: We believe the entire Bible came about through the miraculous guidance of the Holy Spirit and therefore we hold to its teachings as our only creed. Christ specifically gave His followers the New Testament to be our spiritual guide. God: We believe in the “One God” creator and Father as revealed in the Bible. He lovingly created each of our spirit’s and sacrificially sent His Son to save us and rescue us from Satan so we can live with Him in heaven for eternity. Jesus: We believe that Christ paid the ultimate price for our sins by dying on the cross and desires all to be reconciled to God by responding to this gift (Romans 5:1-10). Jesus is the embodiment of all truth and becoming His disciple is the only way that any person on earth can ever hope to live with God in eternity (John 14:1-6). Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Godhead and Jesus promised that He would send the Spirit to live within His people on this earth (John 14:16-18). The Spirit is promised to dwell inside each person who is born again at their conversion (Acts 2:38 & 5:32). The Spirit then goes on to give each disciple the spiritual power from God to reject sinful practices and develop the profound character and life of Jesus. We change only through the Spirit’s work. Salvation: All responsible adults have been alienated from God because of our sinful choices (Romans 3:9-12). However Jesus promises that those born again can enter Heaven (John 3:3-5). This occurs for those who have an active faith in Christ (Romans 3:21-25 & Ephesians 2:8,9). This results in people turning away from sin , confessing Jesus as their Lord (Romans 10:9,10) and being baptized (born of water) for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:36-41). Jesus called this being “born again” because that experience is like starting life all over again with a pure heart and soul. Church: Christ promised that His church (His assembly) would begin and continue on this earth (Matthew 16:18). Jesus is the head and Savior of His Body, the church (Ephesians 5:23) and God says that He gets all His glory or joy from His Son and His church (Ephesians 3:21). We are seeking to be that church that Christ describes—but we also recognize there are many other churches throughout the world that are pleasing and following Christ. Equality: Christ proclaims that there is total equality amid His followers and church (Galatians 3:26-29). This means there is to be social, racial and gender equality practiced among His church. Our church is structured to portray that equality among all our men, women, teens and children. Other than the gifted positions of “evangelists & pastors” (Eph. 4:11), many men and women will have opportunities to lead and serve various ministries in the church. |
